The Chinese men's gymnastics team put on an amazing show last night. Rather than coast through the final round of events to an easy gold medal, they turned in three outstanding performances on the high bar.
They took the gold from the reigning Japanese championship team by a 7.25 margin in points, ending up with a team total of 286.125. Image Copyright: Xinhua Photo
The Japanese took the Silver with a team score of 278.875, and our own American team brought home the Bronze on a spectacular pommel horse routine by Alexander Artemev.
Congratulations to all our friends in the Chinese metals industry, and to all their countrymen and women on what is becoming an Olympics to inspire a new generation of athletes the world over.

Nickel Prices Hit 2-year Low |
Monday, 28 July 2008 |
Weak demand for stainless steel in the U.S., Chinese, and European construction industries has pushed the commodity price of nickel to it's lowest point in two years.
Not since mid-June of 2006 has the London Metal Exchange closed with a lower nickel price than Friday July 25th's 18,215 USD per metric tonne (or $8.26 per pound).
The new 2008 low is nearly 50% down from this year's high price of 33,250 USD (or $15.08 per pound).
According to an article at SteelGuru.com China's Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co is planning on producing stainless steel products with a lower nickel content.
With stockpiles rising, demand falling, and mills paying serious attention to lower nickel content stainless, we'd expect stainless steel producers to do much like the high-end nickel alloy mills have done and drastically cut production on specialty grades of stainless (like 316LVM, 15-5, and 13-8) to keep prices to distributors at current levels or higher.
